ABOUT/CV

STAY TUFT (they/them) is a trans-non-binary, multidisciplinary artist based in Portland, Oregon. They have created a body of work varying from the tufted fiber arts, sculpture, painting, and installation street art. Stay Tuft has exhibited in Portland, OR, and has engaged with the public via street art throughout the greater PNW.

STAY TUFT is a project created by Kat Taylor to build a pathway of personal discovery guided by internal deconstruction. Kat uses a tufting machine to create abstract sculptural movements with acrylic yarn that teases curiosity. Negative space and fibers expand and contract, encouraging the viewer to create their own story through touch and visual exploration. Kat finds inspiration in the simple shapes and folds of the human form, the transformation between creation and destruction, and growth beyond systematic binary themes.
